Health and safety issues surrounding asbestos have a high profile in occupational health and safety. Changes to legislation have once again turned the spotlight on the UK’s single biggest occupational killer.
Asbestos still causes around 5,000 worker deaths each year, surpassing the number of road fatalities. Despite being associated with the past, asbestos remains a current concern, as it can be found in any building constructed or renovated before the year 2000.
The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 have been revised to cover all work likely to disturb asbestos-containing materials. These regulations place greater emphasis on persons responsible for workplace buildings to manage any asbestos that may be present.
Our P402 and P405 qualified surveyors have a minimum of 8 years of experience in the full range of services needed for asbestos surveying in accordance with HSG264, including the supervision of removal and management projects.
The duty to manage asbestos is directed at those who manage non-domestic premises: the people responsible for protecting others who work in such premises, or use them in other ways, from the risks to health that exposure to asbestos causes.
