Project Description

Land Science also undertakes detailed level monitoring and crack assessment surveys for insurance and subsidence investigations across Northern Ireland. These works are carried out to assess evidence of structural movement and assist loss adjusters, insurers, and structural engineers in determining the extent and significance of cracking or distortion to buildings. This example project is in Enniskillen, but we work from Belfast to Cork. The surveys typically comprise precise floor and external level measurements using laser level equipment and digital laser scanners, together with detailed crack measurements recorded using calibrated gauges and monitoring studs where required. String line measurements may also be undertaken to assess verticality, plumb, or potential tilt of walls and elevations. Internal and external defects including cracking, distortion, and differential movement are systematically mapped and photographed to establish movement patterns and potential relationships with subsidence, heave, drainage defects, or structural distress.
