Land science works with loss adjusters providing subsidence investigations across Northern Ireland. These projects typically involve one or two trial pit boreholes (an exposure of the existing foundations with a 3-5m deep borehole drilled to confirm underlying soils conditions. We also carry out CCTV drainage surveys, to assess the condition of drainage which is another leading cause of subsidence. The laboratory testing usually includes moisture contents, Atterberg’s, soil suctions, oedometer consolidation tests, and root identification. A factual report is usually provided, but we are also expert in providing interpretation and design advice including potential remedial options and design parameters. One such project was this property in Omagh.
