Land Science were engaged by house designers to carry out a geotechnical investigation in connection with a proposed new dwelling at this idyllic location in the Inner Hebrides. Ground conditions were anticipated to comprise thin but variable layers of peat and wind blown silts lying directly on bedrock. The investigations comprised a desk study, trial pitting to confirm depth to rock head, soakage testing, geotechnical testing and waste classification. A fully interpretive ground investigation report was prepared.
